ABOUT US
BACKGROUND
The Marilyn Reneé Teasley Carnegie Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund (MRTC) was established in 2004 by the Carnegie family. With an initial contribution of $25,000, the Carnegie Family is committed to raising a minimum of $2 million under the governance of the University and the Endowment Fund Board of Directors.
Described as a modest and loving mother, Marilyn Reneé Teasley Carnegie passed away from breast cancer on December 23, 2002. The Macon, Georgia native was dubbed a hard-worker in whatever she chose to take on as a project, whether it was work, school or family. Carnegie, who attended Clark College from 1979 to 1983, returned to Clark Atlanta University in 1991 to pursue her MBA degree.
Reneé Carnegie graduated summa cum laude/Salutatorian with a 3.83 GPA. She also received several scholarships, including the Chase Manhattan Bank Fellowship. She began her professional career with KPMG Main Hurdman in 1983 as an Auditor and advanced to Senior Auditor before leaving the company. From 1986 to 1988, she joined Comerica Incorporated as an Audit Specialist.
As an MBA student, she received the Executive Management Scholarship and a Sara Lee Fellowship. Reneé Carnegie graduated Beta Gamma Sigma (Business School National Honor Society), maintaining a 3.94 GPA while being a mother to 2 preschoolers. She had a 10-year career with Hewlett Packard (HP) Company beginning as a Financial Analyst and progressively advanced to Global Consulting Manager. (Atlanta, GA – Novi, MI)
ENDOWMENT MISSION
The purpose of the fund is to honor and continue the legacy of Marilyn Reneé Teasley Carnegie by awarding scholarships to deserving students. Recipients of the Scholarship will embody the character and academic achievement that Renee’ exhibited throughout her educational, personal, and professional endeavors. The spirit of the Endowment Fund is to recognize and award students that have achieved academic excellence and require additional financial assistance in pursuit of higher education goals.
